What do you think William Carlos Williams meant with his poem, "The Red Wheelbarrow?"

  1. I think that William Carlos Williams meant to bring a moment of joy and simplicity into someone's life. Maybe he was drawing from their recent experience or his own, but it don't think it has some secret meaning. I think the poem was invented for happiness, not to be cross examined looking for some deeper, life altering message.

  23. I believe W.C.W. Is saying that labor is important and that a machine without a worker (the wheelbarrow) is useless; it just sits gathering dust (or rain, in this case) among the things that aren't bein tended to (the animals/chickens). He's saying that man and nature must coexist to have significance.
